"Budget 2012 is gearing up for growth and supporting Territory families"

Budget 2012 is gearing up for growth to build on our economic opportunities while supporting Territory families with improvements to core services.

Budget 2012 delivers the most generous subsidies and concessions in the nation to support Territory families.

It is a responsible budget with $1.3 billion for infrastructure – supporting 2600 jobs and keeping the economy strong ahead of the full effects of major projects.

This builds on Government's record infrastructure investment since the global financial crisis to help Territory businesses and protect jobs – creating 13 000 new jobs and keeping our economy strong.

Budget 2012 delivers record funding to deliver quality and affordable health and education services and build better hospitals and better schools.

Budget 2012 is also focused on tackling alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour with record police funding, supporting 434 extra police on the beat since 2002.

BuildBonus is continued, providing a $10 000 grant to build or purchase a new home, supporting more Territorians into homeownership and to stimulate housing construction across the Territory. The budget also includes $48 million to provide 140 new affordable rental properties which will be available for rent at 20% below market rate.

Government continues to focus on key priorities including a Working Future, with a $433 million infrastructure investment to improve our remote communities as part of Territory 2030, our
20-year strategic plan.

There are initiatives right across the Territory for every family and business, and I encourage you to look at the areas of interest to you.
